Statement
The smell of a cup of coffee in the car can bring back memories of my father. The squeak of a truck door begins the laughter and tears over remembering my grandfather. A laugh brings back the thoughts of a dear friend lost because of pettiness. The reflection in the mirror brings on thoughts of self-doubt and questioning who that older person staring back has become.
"I wish I would have hugged them more" is a series of mixed-media photography and video work. This work explores ideas of loss, memory, doubt, and regret, all while wishing those figures were here to put their arms around me and say that everything is going to be ok.
